Grey horse

Standard

I promised Usyaka’s ‘mom’ Alexandra that I’d draw a horse for her today. Here he is! Looks a bit cranky, but if you know horses, you know they get that way sometimes.

He is 100% out of my head, like Purple Cat yesterday. I really like him and think he looks a bit like a woodcut, even though I didn’t realise I was doing it at the time.

I think I’m going to do something big, for me, and I have all of you lovely people to thank. There’s an opportunity for me to have a free booth next month at an Irish Open Fair where I can set up and maybe sell a few portraits, perhaps take a freelance logo or illustration job, or even offer my copy editing services. I never would have considered this without the support I’ve found here. Thank you all, a thousand times. The confidence you’ve given me is worth more than gold can buy (even at these crazy rates)!

Purple cat

Standard

I’m bored. Here’s a purple cat. Time I started actually drawing out of my head from the start… I got the feeling I wasn’t very interested in realisim tonight, when I wanted to draw a cat with only a few lines and make it purple…

Bean has been Brushed!

Standard

This is Beanie, a very lucky dog! She belongs to the ever-fabulous Socks and her hubby Bear. Bean, like my dog Neko, is a thinker. An over-thinker. She makes up stuff to get worked up about, but she’s learned that when life gets rough, a pair of comfy pyjamas makes it all better.

You probably notice something different in this picture…a background! I was having a divil of a time separating the white fur from the black, and decided I’d have to have a background color. I’d intended to cut Bean out of the background, but I decided I like it the way it is. She looks like an illustration in a children’s book. Much less true to life than the other drawings I’ve done, but perhaps more fun to look at. She makes me smile : )

Rua has been Brushed!

This is Rua, my sister’s greyhound.

I’m not very happy with this drawing, it looks like those paint-by-numbers kits I did as a kid. Oh well! Every day I learn something new, and attempting brindle colouring was always going to be a challenge!

Jimmie Chew, Fin and Darnell have been Brushed!

Standard

A lovely young cat visited my blog and liked my finger paintings enough to request a portrait. How could I ever say no?
This is Jimmie Chew, he has a photo-diary blog of his own where you can follow his busy day, from nap to car trip to glamour modelling.

Jimmie is the star and narrator of his blog, but he has two feline ‘brothers.’ I didn’t want them to feel missed out, so here is Fin, a lovely grey gentleman:

And this is Darnell. He is all black and seriously challenged my abilities. I need to figure out how to paint in reverse.

As always, I am happy to have handsome, willing models to draw. I learn more with every picture. Thank you, boys!

Usyaka has been Brushed!

Standard

Please meet Usyaka! She is a three-year-old Oriental Shorthair, sharing her home with people who think that she is as beautiful as I do. Even more, as there is a blog of gorgeous photographs devoted to this feline beauty. I’m pleased to have found it, and even happier to have been permitted to ‘Brush’ Usyaka.

Thank you!

Lokii has been Brushed!

Standard

Not ready or willing to write tonight, but I was in the mood for a quick cat finger painting. Here’s my little man Lokii when he was just tiny. All ears and nose!

Bella has been Brushed!

Standard

I’m having a shitty evening. Financial situation just got even worse. I suppose I could talk about it here, but its too depressing and it will just make me angry having to go over everything in detail. Let’s leave it alone for now, as there is nothing to be done.

Instead, have a gander at the lovely Bella. Bella is a rescue greyhound, and shares her home with a fellow KIBIS member. We hope to have her and my girl Neko become doggie-friends – as soon as we find neutral ground they can run and play in together safely.

Miss Mildred Fierce has been Brushed!

Standard

Hi! I have a KIBIS “meeting” shortly, so no time for a long post today. However! I have, for your perusal, Miss Mildred Fierce!

20111018-192132.jpg

This gorgeous gal is someone I’ve never met, but she always has a kind word for everyone – unless you are a greedy government pig, then: Watch Out! She’s super smart and has more style and class than a room full of Siamese cats.

Bird has been Brushed!

Standard

Hi! I have another friend to introduce you to! This is Bird:

20111017-202121.jpg

She’s going through a patch so rough, she’s got cactus spines stuck in her jeans. I hoped I could cheer her up a bit, and apparently it worked!

On the technical side, I learned a lot with this one. I really like the new way I did hair, and using color to outline the lips and face instead of just black really worked.

Thank you for modelling for me!
