Good morning! Here’s a seahorse out of my head. Completely fanciful: I made the tail curl the wrong way! By the time I thought to Google one for real and found that the tail curls under, I was too far along to easily fix it. Oh well! I’m trying to do a few drawings for kids, this is one.

Please meet my beautiful niece, Cerys. Isn’t she just adorable? She has the loveliest blonde curls and the biggest blue eyes ever. She’s not quite one and a half here, right after her first haircut. So much personality in such a tiny package! The last greyhound I did, Rua, is her puppy.
Hi! Sorry I’ve been quiet the last few days, something not-good happened and since I can’t put a funny spin on it, I’m not going to talk about it.
So, here’s my goldfish picture. I took the original pic at the pet shop last week.
I’ve been busy, I did Fergus and most of Ian here last night, and a goldfish today so far. I need to write something!
Ian is a nice Manchester lad, don’t let anyone tell you different! I’m sure he is never, ever, a hooligan. He might like Morrissey, though.
Ian belongs to a new friend of mine. She was over the house last week and I showed her my drawings, and she asked if I could do her kitty, too. She’s such a lovely gal, with a lovely kitty!
I fixed his widdle feet! I know they aren’t black in reality, but grey actually stood out worse. I’m happier!
This is Fergus. He is no longer with his loving owners, sadly. What a cutie he was: his favorite thing to do was to clean the cat’s ears! 🙂
When I was at the pet shop yesterday I took pics of the birds. I wanted to try my hand at drawing them so I have something else for my portfolio. Well, here it is. And I discovered I really dislike drawing bird feet. I hate these! I could barely see them in the crappy pic I took, so they are way too cartoon-like for the rest of the picture. Learning curve…
Sure hope the goldfish will be easier 🙂
I promised Usyaka’s ‘mom’ Alexandra that I’d draw a horse for her today. Here he is! Looks a bit cranky, but if you know horses, you know they get that way sometimes.
He is 100% out of my head, like Purple Cat yesterday. I really like him and think he looks a bit like a woodcut, even though I didn’t realise I was doing it at the time.
I think I’m going to do something big, for me, and I have all of you lovely people to thank. There’s an opportunity for me to have a free booth next month at an Irish Open Fair where I can set up and maybe sell a few portraits, perhaps take a freelance logo or illustration job, or even offer my copy editing services. I never would have considered this without the support I’ve found here. Thank you all, a thousand times. The confidence you’ve given me is worth more than gold can buy (even at these crazy rates)!
I’m bored. Here’s a purple cat. Time I started actually drawing out of my head from the start… I got the feeling I wasn’t very interested in realisim tonight, when I wanted to draw a cat with only a few lines and make it purple…
This is Beanie, a very lucky dog! She belongs to the ever-fabulous Socks and her hubby Bear. Bean, like my dog Neko, is a thinker. An over-thinker. She makes up stuff to get worked up about, but she’s learned that when life gets rough, a pair of comfy pyjamas makes it all better.
You probably notice something different in this picture…a background! I was having a divil of a time separating the white fur from the black, and decided I’d have to have a background color. I’d intended to cut Bean out of the background, but I decided I like it the way it is. She looks like an illustration in a children’s book. Much less true to life than the other drawings I’ve done, but perhaps more fun to look at. She makes me smile : )
