I won’t give you a history lesson – my attention span isn’t that good just yet to do the proper research. Situated in County Offaly, the site dates to 545 ad. That boggles my mind!
We were here last Wednesday. It was a lovely day for pictures. These are a mixture of his and mine.
To save her doing it…

(Cluain Mhic Nóis in Irish, meaning “Meadow of the Sons of Nós”, or perhaps, albeit less likely, Cluain Muccu Nóis “Meadow of the Pigs of Nós”)
I did lol. B-)
Hope you had a great day!
We did – oddly I started in the middle of our day!
Very intricate stone work. As good as it is to see today I bet when it was new it was a grand site. Thanks for sharing. Also glad you both had a good day. Hugs
It must have taken a long long time to carve all that. Shame it was all religious! But there is an old Celt hero, in the next to the last picture.
Absolutely stunning knot work. Thanks for sharing!
It is a very stunning place to visit!
I can’t imagine the investment of time and faith required to carve those amazing pieces with just basic hand tools. They didn’t even have steel yet! You’d have to really, really want to do it….
These are beautiful photographs.
Great photos:)
Appreciate all the care with pictures and the close ups. Really is astounding
Thank you – the close up shots are all mine 🙂
