I did Red Dog just for me a few days ago. I wasn’t going to post him, not yet, but I really, really like him and need cheering up. I used a picture of a stalking dog as reference, but didn’t use the original pic like I normally do. I also put his tail up, instead of down like the working dog would be, so he looks playful.
Oh – he was ‘for me’ in that I felt the need to have a bit of fun, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! But he’s also for my sister – she inspired me to try a few new ideas 🙂
Very niiiiccccee. Heading slightly toward the cartoon styles I love so much.
oh … my … god!
Spiders, your art is developing with such speed, it’s magical!
Just look at this! It’s so new! You didn’t make it this way before – showing the shape this way, this outline on top of the white shape.
This is soo beautiful!
I love it!
Couldn’t say it better. YIP!!!
Wow, I didn’t look at him that way! I know the order in which I did the picture, and to me the white is on top rather than under 🙂
I agree with Alexandra, You’re developing more and more! I really like the style you used this time. 🙂
Thanks, all. You can tell I’m proud of him by the size of my watermark! Don’t steal my dog, google image searchers!!!! This is a bit of how I would like to draw when not doing portraits, like grey horse and purple cat. I need better names.
Ohhh so nice! love the movement implied–and his toes!
You’ve made my night! Socks will tell you that i said my first draft was lacking motion – the background was the solution! I did a big experiment with the toes, glad you noticed! Less is more, sort of thing.
Can’t wait to hear about Sunday, which it is already in your Neck o’ the Large Woods!
Who needs a stinkin’ job when you can do ART?! >:-D
yay! really nice lines – so great to see you playing and experimenting! keep it up!
Thank you! I’m getting better all the time 🙂 I’m still not entirely happy with his head; the line of the lower jaw and the eye aren’t quite right. Joy of digital – I can save this, erase those bits, and try again any time I want to!
I like Red Dog!
Thank you! Good to hear that from a dog-blog! 🙂
Lots of playful action in this one. Ready to romp.
Thank you, too! I’m seeing my knowledge of animals coming in handy: as I said, the photo that gave me the idea had a sheepdog in full, tail-down, stalking mode. Tail up, a little less tension in the lifted paw, and poof! playful instead!
I’d call him “wanna play?”. 🙂
I like this one. He’s super cute.
I know the need to do something just for yourself, and then not being sure about posting it. I did one called “Wicked Unicorn”. LIke that. He’s so damned cute I want to gag and I almost feel guilty for drawing it.
