Red Dog has been Brushed!

Standard

I did Red Dog just for me a few days ago. I wasn’t going to post him, not yet, but I really, really like him and need cheering up. I used a picture of a stalking dog as reference, but didn’t use the original pic like I normally do. I also put his tail up, instead of down like the working dog would be, so he looks playful.

Oh – he was ‘for me’ in that I felt the need to have a bit of fun, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! But he’s also for my sister – she inspired me to try a few new ideas 🙂

  1. oh … my … god!
Spiders, your art is developing with such speed, it’s magical!
Just look at this! It’s so new! You didn’t make it this way before – showing the shape this way, this outline on top of the white shape.
    This is soo beautiful!
    I love it!

  2. Thanks, all. You can tell I’m proud of him by the size of my watermark! Don’t steal my dog, google image searchers!!!! This is a bit of how I would like to draw when not doing portraits, like grey horse and purple cat. I need better names.

    • Thank you! I’m getting better all the time 🙂 I’m still not entirely happy with his head; the line of the lower jaw and the eye aren’t quite right. Joy of digital – I can save this, erase those bits, and try again any time I want to!

    • Thank you, too! I’m seeing my knowledge of animals coming in handy: as I said, the photo that gave me the idea had a sheepdog in full, tail-down, stalking mode. Tail up, a little less tension in the lifted paw, and poof! playful instead!

  3. I’d call him “wanna play?”. 🙂

I like this one. He’s super cute.

I know the need to do something just for yourself, and then not being sure about posting it. I did one called “Wicked Unicorn”. LIke that. He’s so damned cute I want to gag and I almost feel guilty for drawing it.
