Right, why does this feel like I’m writing a personals ad? “I like long walks, and cuddling in front of the fire…” no no no, let’s start again!

I will talk utter nonsense about whatever is on my mind, just to get it out. I also will use words that some people find offensive. This IS the way I talk and think: I actually use ‘bad’ words a lot less in writing than I do in daily life. I promise to attempt to be funny. I promise to talk about my cats and dog as if they are kids. I promise to give out TMI on occasion. I promise to drink and blog. I’ll try to make note of the weird-ass things my husband says (he ain’t right – he talks to cheese).

There will be lots of photos of the flowers I grow. Flowers from seed are an amazing accomplishment.

I might talk about controversial subjects. Opinions & comments are welcome; assholeishment and trolling are not.

I’m an expatriate American living in a very small town in the west of Ireland. I’ve oodles of interests: some of them are art, cooking, gardening, politics, writing (well, duh) and driving my Harley. And, of course, my furry family.

    • Is that a request? I probably will, although until this, I pretty much figured only my sister would be interested in my reviews. I totally refuse to give spoilers, so I might be good at overall opinions. Then again, I read so goddamn much that very little is new or interesting to me.

        • Great idea! I actually went back to my unloved MySpace page today to copy/paste book reviews. I only got one without logging in; ugh, as if I could be arsed to touch that site again… My only book reviewing issue is that I read nearly exclusively via iPad now, dependent on what iDJ has downloaded. He doesn’t read fiction so he guesses what I might like. I read so fast that isn’t a problem for me, but not a lot of fun for potential book review readers. I’m also totally not lacking for blog topics, I can write about anything stupid and pointless oh so easily : )

  2. Bugger, I thought I was Ireland’s sole wordpress output! Nice to meet you – Anyone who can spell feic has to be ok. Llove the header bar too btw – it caught my eye somewhere the other day too.
    I don’t have cobwebs in my mind. I have sofas – the kind that things are constantly getting lost behind.

    • Hi! I’m so thick I didn’t even see that you’re in Ireland too 🙂 I found you via a comment on how English teachers lie to you. I’m a cat lady too, so had to go see! My blog theme is standard, I’m too new to want to play with it yet.
      My sofa has random cat toys and massive dust bunnies behind it, probably a few cobwebs too 🙂

      • You’ll find I’m not adverse to a bad word or six 🙂 It’s Irish, pronounced ‘feck’ and means exactly what you think it does. I’m not sure why they bother with an Irish version of ‘fuck’ because around here, at least, we all curse like sailors. ‘Shite’ isn’t a ‘bad’ word either, despite it being even closer to the English version. Go figure!

        • Thanks especially for the pronunciation. My Dad said shite lots–both my parents had lots of languages between them, so there were always accents and nonEnglish words!

Once a man who smoked was visiting us and he was sitting on our sofa, he went to roll a ciggie and realised he had run out of papers (he smoked rollies) so he leapt up turned around, pulled the cushions back from my couch and rummaged about behind there, I watched cringing. After numerous unmentionable objects were rejected, he pulled out a half full pack of papers, I was aghast and appalled (where the hell had they come from?) and he was happily rolling himself a smoke. that is my sofa story. I am glad your sofa only has cat toys behind it!! c

    • Hmm, almost seems like he stashed them there, just in case! Oh, I shudder to think what would be under the cushions if I hadn’t covered the ancient thing with one of those ‘custom’ covers years ago. I could probably fill a litterbox with all the tracked-in gravel, to start…

  11. Whereabouts do you live in Ireland? I visited there for six weeks when I was in 8th grade, and fell in love with the place. We went to Limerick, Galway, the Cliffs of Moher, Ballybunion (did I sp. that right?) and I felt like I had returned to my native land.

    • Wow, six weeks! What a great place to come visit at a young age, too. I’m in Co Mayo, which I think is the most beautiful (of course). The Cliffs, the Burren, and Newgrange all fit in my top ten places to visit here, though – none in Mayo.

      • I think that might be the finest thing I’ve ever written, and you, you.. *sobs, sniffles* YOU have the gall to accuse me of plagiarism? I have never been so wounded in all my life. Apart from the time I stuck my gran’s garden fork through my foot when we were turning hay in the graveyard field. I don’t know why we were doing that. It wasn’t even our field.

Just happened upon your blog,i too love the finer things in life…random thoughts, cats,dogs..my pet sheep..any living thing really…and even the cobwebs on my verandah..except when they get all stuck in my ponytail,i look forward to reading your blogs in between busting my bum on our property..i don’t ride a harley and if you ask my husband he could verify that i am having enough of an issue trying to master the quad bike…i do real well in reverse…go figure anyway pop in and have a peek at my blog also it’s as dry bush dust as you can get 🙂

    • Yeah, he just turned 44 in February. A bit youngish for all this BS! I’m about a year and a half older. He is an Internet DJ, no current radio station but broadcasts from the net after playing it live… makes sense, right? Also he plays guitar and drums and I’m learning the bass guitar (but not very good at it). I don’t know anyone with more musical knowledge than him!
      I was born in NJ, grew up in FL and moved to Ireland from Cleveland OH 12 years ago. Only been to your part of the world for two days (Portland OR), and that was well over 20 years ago.
